Resolutions

corporate focus on healthy living
TAMPA, Florida – January 21, 2008 – Each January ushers in the annual ritual of
resolution making and promises to eat better,
stop smoking, lose weight, and improve one’s
overall health. This year, McNichols Company is
helping its more than 400 employees stick to
their New Year’s Resolutions as one of the
first companies in America to be recognized by
the American Heart Association as a
”Fit-Friendly Company.”
The “Fit-Friendly Company” program is
designed to recognize employers who encourage a
healthy lifestyle within their workplace.
McNichols Company received a Gold Level status
for its extensive Wellness Program and
health-related employee benefits. These benefits
are available to all of its employees and
include gym membership reimbursement, smoking
cessation and weight loss program assistance, a
confidential Employee Assistance Program, a
monitored walking program during the workweek
and recognition for employees’ healthy
accomplishments. McNichols Company also supports
and participates in the American Heart
Association’s annual HeartWalk and the Go Red
for Women campaign.
The Gold Level designation was only awarded to 28
companies in the state of Florida where
McNichols Company is headquartered in Tampa, and
less than 400 companies nationwide received the
designation in 2007. The Gold Level status is
awarded twice per year for companies that
fulfill criteria such as offering employees
physical activity support, increasing healthy
eating options at work, promoting a wellness
culture, as well as adequately implementing the
physical, nutritional and cultural activities
listed in the American Heart Association’s
Start! Fit-Friendly Company application.
